Ruby on Rails Engineer at American Internet Startup
The Role
The MyTime application is used by millions of consumers and tens of thousands of employees each month to interact and transact with one another in the modern era. Engineers at MyTime are responsible not just for writing code, but ensuring that it gets deployed and works properly in production.
We have created a cohesive, collaborative team environment that works hard to deliver on our innovation roadmap and meet pressing customer commitments. We are looking for individuals who want to both learn and mentor others. While we work independently, we support each other through frequent code and design reviews, daily stand-ups, and pair programming which facilitates learning and reducing friction in our nightly release schedule.
You should have prior experience developing high quality software and be excited about doing it at a fast growing company. You should also know how to have productive technical discussions and be ready to continuously iterate on features based on feedback from our analytics as well as user feedback.
You will not only craft high quality software, but also help in other aspects of building a new company: Designing features, making good product decisions, and building a culture of excellence. We’re seeking engineers who are ready to attack deep technical challenges as well as have an impactful role in product and company development.
Key Responsibilities
Design, code, test, debug and document new and existing components to ensure that software meets business, quality and operational needs. Drive and participate in code and document reviews, mentoring team in best practices. Collaborate with peer organizations, devops, support organizations on technical issues and provide guidance. Interpret and translate business needs to technical requirements and make accurate estimates. Evaluate and recommend tools, technologies, and processes to ensure the highest quality and performance is achieved. Work with team to troubleshoot code level problems quickly and efficiently. Focus on scalability, security, and availability of all applications and processes. Manage technical roadmap and technical debt elimination, balancing time, resource, and quality constraints to achieve business and strategic goals and requirements. Motivate and educate team members on coding standards and best practices. both within the team and as part of the architecture group. Work Environment
You will work remotely from Taipei, with regular meetups at a coworking space with other Taipei-based engineers to collaborate on projects, share learnings, build a strong culture, and enjoy each other’s company. MyTime does not have a Taiwanese legal entity so you will be employed as a full time contractor by our American legal entity. However, the Founder & CEO is personally based in Taipei and is excited to work with our Taiwan-based team in-person a few days each week.
