Lead Mechanical Design Engineer

Responsibilities • Work with talented mechanical design engineers on architecting, designing, prototyping and deploying test fixtures, functional ATE’s (Automated Test Equipment), motion assemblies etc. • Lead and contribute to mechanical design projects, particularly in ATE instruments and related automation equipment (preferred) • Analyze issues that are mechanical related and resolve. Example use finite element analysis (FEA) and failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA) to address stress related issues. • Drive a systematic approach to system-level debugging, design of experiments, root cause analysis and continuous improvement • Manage and maintain spare parts, preventive maintenance, and effective repair and maintain of deployed ATE’s • Work directly with customers to manage and design, delivery and deployment of products in electronics test and automation • Manage and maintain product quality, cost and schedule of deployed test fixtures and ATE’s • Participate in client meetings and provide technical and project management updates • Travel to global locations to resolve issues and propose solutions to clients and contract manufacturing companies. • Work with cross domain teams in the company – manufacturing, assembly, electronic design, software.

Personality and skills • Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering • 8+ years of experience in electronics and automation industry – design, develop, debug, and deploy automation and test systems • Demonstrated experience in mechanical design projects, especially those involving ATE instruments or related automation equipment • Hands on data driven problem solver • CNC and sheet metal part designs • Strong expertise in 3D modelling • Mechanical automation and machine design • High energy professional • Process oriented • Ability to grasp higher level concepts and able to drive lower-level details • Very good communication/listening skills • Not afraid of failures • Approachable • Enjoy interacting with people and can quickly connect with people
